Artists draw inspiration from the world around them, and reference photos have long served as invaluable tools in their creative process. I am excited to announce that I am now offering my exclusive collection of reference photos for you to use!
I get a lot of artists asking me where I get my reference photos from. They answer is, I take the photos myself. I used to be a photographer and I studied photography during my artistic training so I find this easy, however I know many people don’t see photography as their strong point, and using photos found online means they are often low quality or poses copyright infringement issues. That’s why I’ve decided to offer you a carefully curated selection of my photos that you can use as references, and each time I send out a newsletter I will include a new selection.
Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting your artistic journey, reference photos are instrumental in achieving realism and accuracy in your artwork. They offer a reliable visual reference that helps you understand the proportions, lighting, and intricate details of your subject.
Below are five new images that you can work from, all with varying levels of difficulty. If you share any on social media please tag me so I can see them! Also, if you follow my work you’ll know that I am a particular fan of shadows and shine so add the hashtag #shadowandshinechallenge and that way we will hopefully start seeing others’ work too!
So now you can embrace the power of reference photos without any extra effort, fuel your imagination, and unlock new artistic possibilities…
